How much does Time2Race cost?

Accepted Answer

Two euros per registration. That is the whole price list: no setup fee, no yearly licence, no subscription, no module to unlock. The two euros are taken out of what reaches you, together with the payment provider's own fee, and both appear as their own line on your payout statement. Products you sell alongside the registration — shirts, meals, parking — carry no commission at all.

Is it free if nobody registers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is no fixed fee anywhere in our pricing, so a race with no registrations costs you nothing. You can create your race, add your distances, write your règlement, publish it and see what happens; if nobody signs up, you owe us nothing at all.

Question 3

Who pays the €2 — me or my runners?

Accepted Answer

You do, and that is deliberate. Your runner pays the price you put on the page — €15 means €15 — and our two euros come out of that amount before the money reaches you, never on top of it. The same is true of the payment provider's fee. So the runner sees one clean price, and you see exactly what it cost you to collect it.

Are there any extra charges for my runners?

Accepted Answer

None. The price your runner pays is exactly the price you set. There is no booking fee, no service fee, no administration fee — no frais de dossier — and no surcharge appearing at the last step of the registration.

Question 5

Do I pay commission on textiles and other products?

Accepted Answer

No. Commission on products is zero. A shirt, a meal, a parking space, a seat on the shuttle — whatever you offer alongside the registration comes back to you in full, minus only the payment provider's fee on the transaction. The two euros are counted per registration, not per line, so selling more to the same runner never costs you more.

What about payment-provider fees?

Accepted Answer

They are real, they are not ours, and we show them to you. Payments run through Pay.nl — Bancontact, Visa and Mastercard — and Pay.nl charges its own fee per transaction. That fee is deducted from your payout. You can see the fee detail per registration on your dashboard. We do not mark it up and we do not fold it into one vague “service” figure.

Can I run dynamic pricing (early-bird, price tiers)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each distance can carry up to five price rules, either by date — early-bird until 31 March, standard until race week, late after that — or by quantity, so the first 200 places go cheaper than the next 200. One distance uses one kind of rule at a time: dates or quantities, not a mix. The runner always sees a single current price on the page, never a table of conditions, and the change happens by itself when the date or the threshold is reached. On top of that you can issue discount codes, as a percentage or a fixed amount, with an expiry date and a maximum number of uses.

Can I cap how many runners per distance?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and the cap sits per distance, not only on the race as a whole. Your 10K can stop at 500 while your 5K keeps going. When a distance reaches its cap it closes itself and shows as full, and places are held from the moment a runner starts paying, so two people cannot take the last place at once. You can raise a cap later if you find more room. Lowering one is not possible.

How do I create a race?

Accepted Answer

In the dashboard, through a six-step form: who you are (the legal details and the bank account we pay out to), the race itself (name, dates, place, description, règlement, your own branding), your distances with their prices and capacities, any products you want to sell, any additional information you need to ask your runners, and a final review. There is no sales call and no onboarding meeting — you fill it in yourself, save as you go, and come back to it as often as you like while it is still a draft. Setting up a straightforward race takes 5 minutes.

Question 10

Does my race need approval before it goes live?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When you publish, your race goes into our review queue rather than straight onto the site: until we approve it, only you can see it, and it appears in no race list, no search and no public page. This is a real check by a human, not a formality — we look at whether the race is real, whether the details hold together and whether the legal side is there, and so on. Approval is normally quick. You can also pull a race back out of the queue yourself and return it to draft while you rework it.

Can I offer several distances?

Accepted Answer

Yes — up to ten per race. Each one has its own name, price, capacity, start time, age limits and description, so a 5K, a 10K, a half and a kids' race all live under one race page and one registration flow. A distance can also be run in laps rather than in a straight line: give the number of laps and a minimum lap time.

Can I edit my race after publishing?

Accepted Answer

Most of it, yes — but three things are deliberately fenced. A distance's price locks as soon as one runner has paid for it: everyone registering for that distance pays what was on the page when they did, and changing it afterwards would rewrite that. Capacity may only go up, never down, because the runners who are registered have already been given a place. And a date can only be moved to a date still in the future — you cannot backdate a race. Everything else — the description, the règlement, the pictures, the products, adding a new distance — stays editable at any time, and every edit is recorded with what changed, who changed it and when. If you genuinely need something the rules will not let you do, ask us.

Question 13

Can I set discount codes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Create as many codes as you need, each either a percentage off or a fixed amount off, with an optional expiry date and an optional maximum number of uses. The runner types the code during registration and sees the reduced price before paying. The discount comes off your side, not ours: the runner pays less, and what reaches you drops by the amount you granted. Codes belong to one race, so a partner code from one edition does not carry over into the next.

Do I have to write everything in every language?

Accepted Answer

No. Write your race in the language you are comfortable in — French, Dutch or English — and the rest is produced for you. Every time you save a description it is sent off for translation into the other two languages in the background, so a runner arriving on the Dutch version of the site reads your race in Dutch without you having touched anything. You are never left waiting on it: you save and the translations happen in the background.

What gets translated automatically, and what does not?

Accepted Answer

Free prose is translated; names never are. Descriptions — of the race, of a distance, of a product — go through machine translation and appear in all three languages. Names do not: your race is called what you called it, your 10K is called what you called it and your shirt is called what you called it, in French, in Dutch and in English alike. That is a deliberate rule, not a limitation. A race name is an identity, sometimes a registered one, and a translator that turns « Corrida de Noël » into something else on the Dutch page does you damage rather than a favour. Dates, prices, sizes and figures are likewise never rewritten. If a translation ever reads badly, tell us and we put it right.

Can I email my runners?

Accepted Answer

Yes — two message blasts are included with every race; beyond those, they are chargeable. A blast goes to every runner registered for your race, each in their own language, and carries their QR code and the practical race details automatically, so there is nothing for you to paste in. You write it, you submit it, and we approve it before it leaves — and a message we hand back to you for a fix does not use up one of your two.

When and how do I get my money?

After your race, by bank transfer to the account on your organiser profile. Each payment is shown as paid in your cockpit. Your cockpit shows you three numbers throughout — what is owed to you in total, how much of it has cleared, and how much is ready to be sent.

What is on the payout statement?

Accepted Answer

One page and five figures, with nothing folded together: your gross, our two euros per registration, the Pay.nl fee, anything refunded, and the net that was transferred to you. It is a receipt-style proof of payout rather than an invoice, we account to you for money collected on your behalf. Behind it you also have the full payment list in the cockpit: every single payment, its method, its fee and whether it has cleared, exportable to CSV or Excel, so you can reconcile line by line if that is how you work.

Who handles the money?

Accepted Answer

We do. Time2Race is the platform between you and your runners: registrations are paid to us, as merchant, and we forward the money on to you. It stays your race from end to end — you set the price, the distances, the rules, the règlement and your own refund policy, and the runner is registering for your race, not for ours. What sits on our side is the payment side: the provider relationship, the reconciliation, and the handling of the money until it reaches your account.

How do refunds affect my payout?

Accepted Answer

A refund comes off your payout. The runner is refunded what they paid, minus our two euros: we do not hand our commission back, and there is no administrative refund fee added on top of it either. The Pay.nl fee on the original payment is not recovered, so a refunded registration costs you that fee as well. That is deliberate — you decide whether a refund happens, so its cost sits on your side rather than ours. Refunds appear as their own line on your statement and the cockpit reflects them the moment they are made, so the figure you are looking at is always the figure that will be transferred.

What is the command desk?

Accepted Answer

The command desk is your race-day screen, in a browser: live check-in counts as the runners arrive, registrations per distance, on-the-day registration through a stripped-down page built to be fast, and runner lookup by name or email for whoever has lost their QR. It is deliberately operational, with no revenue figures on it, because the people using it on the day are volunteers at a table, not your treasurer. You open it from your own organiser dashboard — the same login you use everywhere else — on whatever device sits at the desk; there is no separate account or PIN to hand out.

Can I register people at the desk and take card payments?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On-site registration is part of the desk: you take the runner's details, pick the distance, and collect the money yourself on the spot — in cash, or by card with your own reader — then mark the registration paid cash or paid card. Time2Race does not process on-site card money itself; the paid marker is simply a bookkeeping note. What comes out is an ordinary registration, identical to one made online three weeks earlier: same confirmation, same signed QR, same place in the ranking. The registration is recorded with its paid marker, so your reconciliation still adds up at the end of the day.

How does the timing work?

Time2Race has its own timing system, and it was built to be simple. You put it on the start line, you press ON, and it runs. Reads arrive in the platform by themselves and become a live ranking while the race is still going — no file to hand over, and no timing company to hire on top of a registration platform. Two ways to use it: you do it yourself, and it costs you nothing, or we come on race day and do it for you, and we bill our hours. Honestly, it is easier than TikTok.

Can I correct a timing mistake?

Accepted Answer

Report it to us and we correct it. Timing corrections are ours to make, not yours: excluding a bad read, inserting a passage that was missed, resolving a flagged case. That is on purpose. Results are the one thing on this platform that nobody should be able to retype by hand — not you, and not us without leaving a trace. So send it to Time2Race with whatever you have: the runner's own evidence, a marshal's note, the video. We correct it at the source, the ranking is recalculated from the passages rather than edited, and the change is recorded with who made it, when and why. Flag things early: an unresolved case is exactly what keeps a set of results from being closed.

Question 25

When do results go live?

Accepted Answer

During the race. A time appears as the runner crosses, and the ranking for each distance builds itself as the race goes on, so your finish area, your website and the families at home are all looking at the same live list. There is nothing to upload afterwards and no gap between the race and the results — that gap is a symptom of timing being someone else's job, and here it is not.

Question 26

What does “official results” mean?

Accepted Answer

That the list has been locked. Live results are real times, not estimates, but they can still move while a correction is pending or a flagged case is open. Five days after the race, once everything is settled, the results become official and stop changing — and that frozen version is the one that stays in the archive, indexed and searchable, so a runner can still find their time from your race years from now. If something genuinely needs fixing afterwards we can still reopen a set of results, correct it and lock it again, but that is a recorded, deliberate act, never a quiet edit.
